Niger state is popular in Nigeria on Foods production and implementing a comprehensive grains value chain initiative in Niger State, Nigeria, aimed at increasing agricultural productivity, reducing post-harvest losses, and improving livelihoods for smallholder farmers. The project introduces high-yield, drought-tolerant corn seeds, provides microcredit for agricultural inputs, and deploys digital tools like virtual agronomist advisory services. It also invests in climate-proofed warehousing, cleaning, and drying infrastructure to reduce losses, which currently average 20%. The initiative targets 2 million smallholder farmers by 2030,
with a focus on women and youth through aggregation and trade schemes. Niger Foods has allocated significant funding for infrastructure, capacity building, and SME support, while leveraging partnerships with government and private sectors to ensure sustainability and alignment with national food security goals.
